It is said that Ingolfur Arnarsson was the first settler of Iceland. It is also sad, that he had quarrels with the king of Norway and then left to Iceland.

Ingolfur's step-brothers name was Hjorleifur.He decited to go with him.They sailed in convoy untill they saw Iceland. Then they splitted. Ingolfur threw his high seat posts over board and said that he would settle down where they would land. Ingolfur first landed where now is "Ingolfsshofði".

Hoörleifur built his house where now is called Hjorleifshofði. Next spring he wanted to sow. He had one ox and let the slaves pull the plough

Dufthakur, one of the slaves suggested to kill Hjorleifur. They killed the ox and told Hjorleifur that a bear had killed it. He told his men to look for the bear. They did that and spread in the forrest. The slaves then killed all of Hjorleifur's men and Hjorleifur too. Then they fled to Westman islands.

Ingolfur's slaves were sent to look for the high seat posts. They found out what had happened to Hjorleifur and his men and told Ingolfur. Ingolfur found all the slaves in Westman islands.

They got afraid when they saw that Ingolfur was coming and fled in all directions. Most of them went up to Heimaklettur. Dufthakur fell down from Heimaklettur and where he fell, it is still named "Dufþekja". Then Ingolur killed all the slaves. Next summer Ingolfur went on looking for the high seat posts and found it where now is the city called Reykjavik.
